Frances Fridge Obituary

FRIDGE, Frances March 15, 1915 - October 21, 2010 Frances passed away quietly on October 21, 2010 in Burquitlam Care Centre in Coquitlam, B.C. at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her husband Tom and son Ted. She will be lovingly missed by her sister, Violet Somerville, her daughter-in-law Wendy Fridge, grandsons Tom (Denise) and Daren (Kelly) Fridge and great-grandchildren Megan, Taylor, Jason and Jaxon Fridge, and many nieces and nephews. Frances was born and raised in Vancouver. She worked at the Terminal City Men's Club in Vancouver for 40 years. She and Tom enjoyed travelling to England and Scotland to visit relatives. She was active in the Auxiliary of St. Mary's Anglican Church, South Hill and was a People's Warden at St. Matthias Church, Vancouver. She was also an active member of Scottish Country Dancing, B.C. Highland Dancing, Vancouver Folk Fest Society, Vancouver Multi-Cultural Society and the Canadian Citizenship Council (which involved July Citizenship Ceremonies). She also received the Commemorative Medal for 125th Anniversary of Confederation of Canada (1867 - 1992). In 1988 Frances moved to Port Coquitlam and became a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Anglican Church. She also was member of the Port Coquitlam Heritage Society. Many thanks to Dr. Toews and the caring staff at Burquitlam Care Centre who looked after Frances for the past 8 years. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 19th, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Alexandria Anglican Church, 2211 Prairie Street, Port Coquitlam, B.C. (worshipping at Trinity United Church). In lieu of flowers, donations in Frances' memory can be made to Burquitlam Lions Care Centre (Burquitlam Care Society), 560 Sydney Avenue, Coquitlam, B.C. V3K 6A4.
