Frances O'Malley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 25, 2025.
It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of our dear mother, Frances O'Malley, into the arms of her Savior, at the age of 85, Tuesday, July 22, from complications of pancreatic cancer.

Known to many as Fran or Ann, she was born on October 4, 1939, to Frank and Marie Wilton (nee Baker) in Philadelphia. Fran graduated from Little Flower High School with high honors in 1957.

Fran was a devoted mother and a faithful friend to many. To her children, she was a rock, an ever-present example of living life to its fullest. Her motto has been that "Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass; it's about learning to dance in the rain." Her lessons were to be God-fearing and faithful as well as to be independent and dependable. They will miss her beautiful smile, quick wit and her laugh.

Fran was originally from Philadelphia, then a long-time resident of Willow Grove, PA and recently moved into the Philadelphia Protestant Home, Philadelphia, PA where she made many more dear friends.

Fran had many interests and hobbies. She loved spending time with her family, often commenting on how very blessed she was. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow, saying how proud she was of them and how amazing they are. She also loved spending time with her many friends, visiting, going to shows and concerts and playing cards. She loved dancing, telling us stories of dances she attended in her youth. She carried that love into adulthood. She loved to travel, she was able to journey to many wonderful destinations like Italy, Ireland and Alaska, China being her favorite, making many friends along the way. Later in life, Fran discovered a talent for painting, her specialty being in landscapes and flowers, even winning a contest. She loved to play different card games, enjoying time with many old and new friends.

Fran was a manager at Intersearch Research, making many cherished friends and getting many opportunities to travel.

For many years, Fran was a devoted member of St David's Catholic Church in Willow Grove. She volunteered as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and a prayerful servant at times of Adoration. Fran devoted many years to volunteering at St Vincent de Paul Society at St. David Catholic Church as treasurer. With her kind heart and sensible money management, she was able to help countless people through to the next pay period, by giving them what they needed to feed their families, keep their utilities running, or perhaps paying rent, depending on their needs.

Fran was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Marie Wilton as well as her former husband, Thomas J. O'Malley. She is survived by her devoted children Colleen (James), Kelly (William), Timothy (Rosemary), Kevin (Suzanne), her sister Marie King and brother Vincent Wilton. She is also survived by her sixteen wonderful grandchildren, Meghan (David), Carly, Erin (Jimmy), Michael (Chelsea), Trish (Tim), Neal, Shannon, Kevin (Meghan), Stephanie, Shane (Samantha), Phoebe, Juliana, Danielle, Caitlin, Brian, Tara, and her thirteen beautiful great grandchildren, Chase, David, Finnegan, Seamus, Quinn, Violet, Sloane, Carra, Cheyenne, Alexis, James, Sadie Rose and Teddy.

A viewing will be held at St Cecilia Catholic Church at 535 Rhawn Street, Philadelphia, PA on Monday, August 4th, at 9:30. Mass to directly follow viewing, at 10:30. under the direction of Wackerman Funeral Home, Philadelphia, PA. Interment will be held privately.

The family would like to thank all those who have supported, prayed and sent messages of love to Mom through her last journey.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St Vincent de Paul Society of St David Catholic Church, 316 Easton Road, Willow Grove PA.19090.

Fran was a special person. Many of us at Intersearch relied on Fran for her insight and ways to make things better. Fran never knew the word `no´. Whatever was needed she was there to help. She was bright and filled with warmth. May her family find peace and comfort.

My heart is with the O´Malley family during this difficult time. I loved being around Fran-she was always so full of positivity and ready with a grand story about her travels, her art, and her beloved family. I will truly miss her, but I know her warm and vibrant spirit lives on in her children, grandchildren and great grand children! Sending love and hoping you all find peace during this difficult time.
