In Loving Memory, Retired Colonel Francis B. Maloy, Jr. US Army. On July 8, 2008, Francis (Frank) B. Maloy passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach Florida, his wife Irene Maloy by his side. Frank was blessed to have found true love twice. He married Margaret M. Herda April 22, 1961 who passed away in December 1992. He became re-acquainted with an old high school friend, Irene Debski, and they were married October 14, 1995 and Frank moved from Georgia to Florida. In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl & Bill King of Atlanta, GA; and his daughter Kelly Maloy of Douglasville, GA. He is also survived by his step children Roy Debski, of West Palm Beach, FL; Michael Debski of Jacksonville, FL; and Tom Debski of Deep River, CT; and his grandchildren: Madelyn and Michael Jr. Debski of Jacksonville, FL; Brian and Jessica Debski of West Palm Beach, FL. He is preceded in death by his sister Helen "Gingie" Shontz, but is survived by his brother in law Robert Shontz and a host of many other close relatives in the Pittsburgh PA area. Frank was born in Pittsburgh PA, April 18, 1938 and attended St. Justins High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1961 after receiving his Bachelors of Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. His military career led him to serve in Vietnam in 1967-68 where he received the Bronze Star Medal. After his tour in Vietnam, he attended Texas Tech and received his MBA on Aug. 23, 1969. Frank finally retired from the Army after 30 years of service, with tours that took him and his family all over the world including, Heidleburg, Germany; Seoul, S. Korea; the Canal Zone in Panama; and many cities in the U.S. He received many accommodations throughout his career including the Legion of Merit from the Corp. of Engineers, May 4, 1989. With his passion for golf, fishing and travel, Frank shared his sense of humor and love of life with all of his friends and family. In body he was lean and fit; in mind he was adventurous and levelheaded; in heart, he was loyal, courageous and passionate. While our memories of Frank will always be close in our hearts, we will miss him always. A memorial service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 11:00 am in the AYCOCK FUNERAL HOME, Stuart Florida. Frany. I finally found you after all these years, and it's so sad to know you are no longer with us.. it's late in responding, but I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family. We were fraternity brothers at U Pitt in 1956 - 1960. Our respective paths took us all around the world. You ended in the South and I'm out here in Idaho. . I have nothing but the best memories and have regaled my wife with stories of our youth. Rest In Peace my dear friend.

Please accept my condolences. Francis' name lives on. I am a writer for The Sweet Science, which is an online boxing site and have an article recently put up that quotes who I believe is Francis' father from 1967. The article is called "Where Have You Gone, Harry Greb".

Dear Sheryl, Kelly, Irene and all the extended family: We're sorry we couldn't be there with you. We so admire your courage over these past years and months. And we will cherish the living memories -- stories you've shared of all the fun things you did, the games you played, and the loving connections that grew in your new and loving family.

To All the Maloy Family Members,
Our deepest and most sincere sympathy from the 4 Snyder first cousins of Francis Sr: Maurice Snyder Jr, Dolly Snyder Roberts-Solosky, Margaret Snyder Gerken and Christina Snyder Gleditsch.
We have fond memories of spending Sunday afternoons with our Uncle Francis, Aunt Marie, Francis Jr., Gingie and even remember David when they lived in Mt. Washington and we were growing up in East Liberty. Our mother, Lucy Maloy Snyder, was Francis Sr's only sister. Unfortunately she succumbed to pre-menopausal breast cancer in 1953 at the early age of 45 while we were all still pre-teens. After that, our dad, Bid Snyder, kept in touch with your family. Francis Sr. was very good about keeping in touch with us, even attending all our weddings, one of which (Moe's) took place in Puerto Rico. We tried on several occasions to locate Gingie or Francis Jr. to no avail, which is sad because 2 of the sisters, Margaret and Chris, stayed in Pittsburgh, while Dolly lives in California and Moe (Maurice Jr.) currently lives in Michigan.
Again, our deepest sympathy and our deepest regret that we were never able to rekindle our kinship with our cousins.

Dear Sheryl and Kelly,

I noticed your fathers obituary in todays Pgh Post-Gazette. How very sorry we are to hear of his passing. I am one of the daughters of Lucy Maloy Snyder. We have not heard from Francie or Gingie since we were young and have many times wished we had stayed in touch. How sad that we no longer can. My brother and sisters join me in sending our condolences. Our condolences to Gingie's family as well. I remember her as being pretty and fun-loving. I know they will both be missed.

Sincerly,

Maurice Snyder
