Frank BURNHAM Obituary

BURNHAM _ Frank Lang was born in Vancouver, February 19, 1911 and died suddenly on December 4, 2002. He is survived by his loving wife, Vera, of 32 years. He leaves behind his brothers: Jim (Doreen) of Trail, Bob (Valerie) of Victoria, Alan (Ruth) of Vancouver and sister, Faye (Jim) Eccleston of North Vancouver; and survived by his loving family, Barrie (Helen), Carole (Gordon), Barbara (Donald), Jim (Debbie), Shirley (Doug); 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his first wife, Alice; brother, Bill and sister, Edythe. He retired from the Vancouver School Board in 1976 after 45 years of service as a well respected and much loved Teacher and Administrator. He was actively involved in the Vancouver Secondary Schools' Athletic Association as a coach, sponsor, referee and executive member. He was an active member of the West Point Grey Baptist Congregation singing in the choir, and acting on various boards. During his retirement he and Vera travelled to nine different countries serving in various capacities to support the Canadian Baptist Missions. He conscientiously visited many friends and former colleagues who were struggling with terminal illnesses bringing both hope and friendship. He consistently provided wise but nonjudgmental counsel to the many who came to him for guidance. His legacy is a family who remember his kind and thoughtful deeds, strong leadership and promotion of loving, dedicated relationships. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2002 at 2:00pm at West Point Grey Baptist Church (11th Ave and Sasamat Street). Reception to follow in church hall. In lieu of flowers donations will be gratefully accepted by the West Point Grey Baptist Church.
