Frank Paul Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 19, 2013.
It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Franklin Carl Paul, 63 of Austin, Texas. Frank was born in Bishop, Texas on December 23, 1949 to Charles and Olga Paul, and entered into eternal peace on Thursday, September 19, 2013.

Frank graduated from Texas A&M University in 1972 with a Civil Engineering degree and shortly thereafter joined his brother, Carl, and his wife, Barbara, in their golf business – eventually to be known as Golfsmith. A member of Great Hills Country Club for over 30 years, Frank was an avid and talented golfer, winning many tournaments and awards. A mentor to many and successful businessman, above all he will be remembered as a loving and loyal family man who was devoted to his wife of 35 years, Dorthy. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Frank and Glenn. Frank had a strong faith in the Lord and found peace in prayer at Triumphant Love Lutheran Church where he and Dorthy joined shortly after marrying.

Frank joins his brother, Charles "Chuck" Paul, and his parents, Charles and Olga Paul, in Heaven. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorthy Buehring Paul, and their sons, Frank Paul, his wife, Emily and grandchildren Emerson and Cameron of Dallas, and Glenn Paul, his fiancée, Sarah Irvin of Austin. He is also survived by his brother, Carl Paul, and wife, Barbara, and many nieces and nephews of Austin, and sister-in-law, Sharon Radecka and husband, Dick, and nephews of Oklahoma.

Sustained by his faith and the love from friends and family, he endured an eight month battle with non-skin melanoma cancer. He and Dorthy wish to thank everyone deeply for their prayers and support.

With great sadness I just learned from the latest Texas Aggie magazine of Frank's untimely illness and passing. I shared memories with Frank from the eight years spanning our high school and college days and regret that we had not seen much of each other since that time. I will remember most Frank's irrepressible smile, love of life, and love of people. He found faith, joy, and love in life, which is a most worthy legacy and a model for us all. Farewell old friend; we will miss you.

Most days from fourth grade until Frank graduated high school, I walked to school from our home on fourth street in Bishop Texas with Frank, Mrs. Paul and their dog. (or some combination). Mrs. Paul taught all of us Senior English. We lived two houses apart. Walk on Frank. You will be missed by many.

Frank touched the lives of so many, near and far. His good nature was infectious, and his heart was as big as all outdoors. He will be missed, but long remembered. Golfsmith would have been a much smaller success without Frank's exceptional eye for detail, his compassion for the Golfsmith family, and his turtles dedication. Beyond great business success, Frank was a devoted and loving husband and father. Dorothy, my heart aches for you, your son's, and the extended Paul family. May God bless you all, and may He give you each that peace that passes all understanding.

The name did not ring a bell at first it's been so long. The "brown" picture when he was a youth; I ran across the same picture a few weeks ago while going through some old boxes at my house. Now it all comes back. I'm glad for him that he no longer suffers.

My heart is broken. To never again be able to eat lunch with Frank; to never again hear him ask me before a round of golf "Richard, do we have a bet today"; to never be able to play another round of golf with Frank...brings tears to my eyes. He was my dear friend, who I will never forget. "Frank, you touched my life and I know that you touched many more. I am thankful I had the priviledge to know you. May your soul rest in peace." Dorothy, Frank, Jr., and Glenn, we all share your deep sorrow for the passing of a good, generous, and decent husband and father!!!! May the Lord bless you!!!

What a sad loss. We had many memorable excursions in our High School days, and did get in trouble a few times or maybe just a little more than a few times. How simple those days were and how wonderful it is to be able to share it with the Grandchildren. Rest in Peace My Friend.
