Franz HABERL Obituary
Dr. Franz Peter Haberl passed away on March 1, 2017 at Mount Sinai hospital in Montréal. Born to Hilde and Franz Haberl on March 8, 1935, Franz spent his childhood living in Austria before immigrating to the US on a high school scholarship. He remained in the US to pursue his post-secondary education, ultimately completing his PhD at Cornell University. Franz led a distinguished professorial career spanning several decades, teaching German language and literature at many North American universities, including the Brooklyn College, Dawson College, and Concordia University. Franz enjoyed classical music, European history and literature, cross-country skiing, and travelling. He spent his retirement on PEI and eventually in Montréal. Franz is survived by his daughters, Melissa, Sarah, and Anna, and his Austrian siblings Dieter and Gerlinde.

We will remember Franz as a solid friend, a model teacher and an always curious intellectual, an upright citizen with a strong moral/ethical compass.
