Gary Kuhn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 9, 2024.
Gary Lynn Kuhn passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Born in Seminole, Texas on Nov. 4, 1953 to Beatrice Lois Donaghe Wilde and Bernie Joel Kuhn, Gary died as he did many things in life, unexpectedly.

Gary enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially with horses and dogs, and he loved playing with his brother.

As a young man, he was a standout athlete setting track records at Sharpstown and Bellaire high schools. Gary faced and beat Stage IV lung cancer and had planned to follow in his father's footsteps, training to compete in the Senior Olympics. Recently, he was more focused on continued education. In the past two years, Gary completed four college courses a€" at the age of 69.

Gary was a ramblin' man, of sorts, reinventing himself throughout the years with stints as an air conditioning repair man, roughneck, truck driver, truck dispatcher, and lastly a business owner. Gary lived life to the fullest, especially during his younger years, had a wonderfully offbeat and slightly dark sense of humor, and he never was afraid to act on his dreams, or help others.

He loved all of his children deeply, but gave them enough freedom to become their own persons. Though he wouldn't say it often, he was truly proud of the people they became.

Gary and his mother, Lois, shared a special bond and a deep connection. They chose to live their golden years together. He took on gardening and cooking and made the house a home for his mother and wife.

Gary loved to fish, tell jokes and spend time with his family, often at the same time. His children hold dear to memories of time spent with their father deep sea fishing, two-stepping, sharing musical interests, and even attending AA meetings during his Conroe days. He was never one to turn down early, especially when it came to hanging out with family.

He joins his mother, Lois, his father Bernie, his grandmother Essie Donaghe and his grandfather Hugh D. Donaghe who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife of more than 24 years, Nhung Luu aka "Cindy" Kuhn; loyal brother Don Wilde; children Kristin Kibbee(Stephen Kibbee), Brandon Kuhn, Derek Kuhn(Jessica Kuhn), Darren Kuhn and Julia Kuhn; as well as 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Dad used to ask us to let him rest in peace. We have no choice now. Sleep peacefully.
