Gary Rader Obituary

Published by Connecticut Post from Apr. 20 to Apr. 21, 2016.
Rader, Dr. Gary Joseph.
Rader, Dr. Gary Joseph Rader, age 66, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Suzanne Ruby Rader, passed away on April 18, 2016 at home with his loving family by his side. Gary was born on July 28, 1949 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Peter and Dorothy Sivec Rader. Gary received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Connecticut in 1972 and his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois in 1976. He was also a licensed acupuncturist. He established Rader Chiropractic and Acupuncture Center and practiced for 34 years in Stratford. He was a member of many associations, including the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the American Chiropractic Association, and the Connecticut Chiropractic Association (former District Director, 1986). Gary had healing hands and was passionate about helping others. His enthusiasm for life was infectious, and he loved inspiring people and motivating them to achieve their dreams. Gary was a longtime member at Mill River Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cards with his many friends. One of his fondest memories was winning the Mill River Father-Son golf tournament. He was an avid UCONN Huskies basketball fan. He coached many of his children's teams and never missed their sporting events. He was an active member of the community, serving as the past president of the Nichols Improvement Association and volunteering at his church. After retiring, Gary loved spending time in Arizona, where he liked to read, bike, swim, and walk. Gary adored his wife, and his pride and joy were his children, and more recently, his beautiful granddaughters. He believed every day was an opportunity to "make memories" with his family. In addition to his wife, Suzanne of 37 years, Gary is also survived by one daughter, Ashley Coxe and her husband Matson and their daughter Emerson of Virginia, and one son, Garrett Rader and his wife Angie and their daughter Malia of Arizona. He is also survived by one sister, Janice Cioppa of Beacon Falls, two brothers, Roger Rader and his wife Katie of Stratford and Donald Rader and his wife Marge of Stratford, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 10:00 AM directly in Nichols United Methodist Church, 35 Shelton Road, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Nichols Farm Burial Ground. Family and friends may call at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford on Thursday, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gary's name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123. Dear Suzanne and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I know that Gary was happy as he told me a few years ago,"I want to be around to see my children married and to play with my grandchildren" And, so he did ! He was so proud of his family and loved you all so deeply. I know he has found relief from the illness that he fought for a few years. He was my buddy and friend . Thanks to him, I went on vacation and found the man that I married . I thank him from my heart for the care he took of me as my chiropractor for so long. I am blessed to have had him for a doctor and to know him as a person . Rest in Peace

Anyone who met my uncle Gary could speak to the warmth and true caring he exuberated. Always asking about others and often giving uplifting advice. Words can not explain how much he will be missed or the impact he had on the world. May he rest peacefully with our Lord.

Thank you for everything Uncle Gary. We love you.
