We went to the cemetery today to visit James Hurst and much to our shock we found Gary's grave next to it. We are so sad to learn of his passing. Gary was our son's baseball coach for many seasons, he was the kind of coach every parent wanted for their kid because he taught not only the sport but how to be an upright young man/woman win or lose. He taught this not only in words but by example also. The world has lost another 'Gentleman' and he will be missed! much love & hugs to the family

Thank you to Craig and Lori for personally inviting me to the Memorial service. It was "Gary" to say the least.
A couple of short stories...
When I was assigned the PCB insurance policies about 25 years ago, I made an appointment to meet Gary and Randy. Not knowing anything about the business I wore a shirt and tie (I never wear a tie except to church). I walk in to the office and here's Gary in a golf shirt, shorts and tennis shoes and Randy in golf shirt, shorts and flip-flops. Was I over dressed! The tie came off quickly and our friendship flourished.
Second story...Gary used to call just to chat and one day I received a call. We talked about baseball, our families and business. Near the end of the conversation, Gary said: "Oh, by the way, I was driving the forklift and dropped one of the biggest units we have. Is it covered for insurance?" It was and we laughed about the accident for years to come.
Knowing Gary (and serving your family) has been an privilege. I will never forget his friendship and smile.

I just heard about the loss of this wonderful man. I only knew Gary as a business colleague, someone I traded with. He was one of a kind. He was an important person in our industry because he was honest, fair, objective and non-judgmental. It was always a pleasure to see Gary even if we weren't able to make the deal we had seen each other about. Gary was also very supportive of a dealer association we worked on together. I am really sure that if he knew what we had grown into he would be very proud. We didnt have a personal relationship, but we found ourselves across the desk from one another dozens of times and there was never, ever a time I didnt enjoy our visits. I am glad to have known him and I am sad for all the folks who lost him.

Gary would come into the bank where I work and light up the branch with his charming smile, and perspective on life. I consider myself extremely lucky to have crossed paths with him. May it somehow help comfort the family to know how many lives he touched. What a Great Guy!

I met the Volp family 37 years ago at a time when my family was splitting. I was 10 and was new to the Greentree neighborhood and school with no friends near. Quickly made new friends, as there were a bunch of us kiddos in that neighborhood. Gary and Lori always had an open door and always made you feel welcome! Personally, they restored my faith and gave me a vision of how I wanted my family to be. Gary made me feel like I had a Father figure in my life - always encouraging and welcoming with that awesome smile..... made me feel important. I ran into Gary and Lori at Thunder Valley some years ago and sure enough, he greeted me with that smile and a hug, still making me feel important. I never took the opportunity to tell him and Lori how much they meant to me as parental figures and friends and how they impacted my childhood during difficult years, but I shut my radio off the other day and talked to Gary all the way to work sharing and thanking him. I have been blessed to grow up knowing him and the Volp family!
Lori, Craig, Jeff, Brandon, and Darrick - I love you all and thank you so much for sharing that wonderful man with the rest of us. He will forever be remembered! RIP Gary

If you want to truly understand what kind of man Gary Volp was, look at his 4 sons...who they are as people, leaders, friends and fathers speaks volumes about who their dad was. I can't say enough as to how much Gary changed this world for the better. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him should consider themselves fortunate. I sure do. Rest easy Gary.

Craig, the man you are, speaks volumes as to the Father he was to you. May he rest in peace, and the memories of him that you shared, and grew from, last a lifetime of smiles and fun stories to tell us all.
