Gene Martin, 88, a long-time resident of Las Vegas area, passed away on July 30, 2018 peacefully at home. He was born on May 26, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Rose and Garvin Martin.

Dad's passion was gambling. He loved playing the horses, slot machines, Deuces Wild and football! He also loved good food, movies, apple martinis, friends and family, good times and telling his stories.

Gene is survived by his daughters Joanna Martin and Jeanie Robinson; former wife Marjorie Martin; and sister Marlene Zuber.

Hi Dad

I miss you so much. I miss not being able to pick up the phone and just talk and laugh about funny times in the past that we had together. I am grateful for those moments we shared. You and mom raised two strong daughters but we both have been faced with many challenges since you and mom are not here with us. You both are always in our hearts now and forever.

We love and miss you terribly.

Your daughters Jeanie and Joanna.

Ooooh Gene- Tho we never met in person, I always looked forward to your call at Joanna's when I visited her. You would always call in mid-evening to check up on your daughter and to say Good Night, just as we popped open a vino. You were a dear to talk to and I will never forget the chats we had. You have raised 2 beautiful daughters that have sooo much love, care, and fashion.. Kudos to you Gene for all the love and guidance you gave them and I thank God every day that they are in my life and my friends. On a side note, ever since I heard the story of you "Passing out" at a long stop-light, I now do the same after sitting there forever.. Lol.! God Bless you Gene, you will never be forgotten...

Chris and Dan are praying for your families strength and courage during this sad and difficult time. When you have your father's memories with you, he will always reside in your heart. Your father can never be more than a thought away. May time soften your sorrows, and may family and friends soothe the pain. May peace take over your heartaches, and only the fondest memories of your father remain. We will always be here to give you the support that you need. We know that there are no words that can be said that can take away the pain and the sadness. Let the memories of your fathers life provide you with the comfort you need during this challenging time. It is extremely hard losing your father who meant a lot to you, and we know that you're feeling lost and afraid. We will try very hard to make things a little better and brighter for you. Please accept our sincerest sympathies for the loss of your wonderful father. He was a great man and will be terribly missed.

Hi Gene,
I miss you a lot. You and my Dad used to talk almost every day. My fondest memory of you is that you remembered me when I was Three years of and ran all over your shop. I remember, I loved to go to your shop. There was no one day you did not asked how I was. I really appreciate you remembered me all the time you spoke with my Dad.
Have a wonderful journey and i will see you later in Heaven.

Gene,

I'm glad I got the chance to take care of you. I enjoyed coming into work every morning looking at you wake up and see a smile on your face every time. I remember when I would mention that we were going to give you a bed bath, you would say I'm going to get thrown in the carwash again lol. But once we put those warm towels on you, you would sing "i'm in heaven". You said you were the cleanest man on this world because of how much we would clean you. We enjoyed many many laughs. Always talking about your days at the horse tracks or how you struck the jackpot! You'll always have a place in my heart. I know your at peace

Gene,

I am so lucky to have met you. Your kindness, generousity, and thoughtfulness was contagious. I am sad we didnt get to watch a John Wayne movie together but I sure am glad we shared that interest of westerns! Your stories always made me laugh. When I need a smile I will think ofnyou because that is what you did for everyone youet, brought a smile to their face. Continue to bring smiles to everyone you come in contact with now, especially John Wayne! Its a good thing I'm not older because with my southern hospitality and your charm, we probably would have gotten into alot of trouble! :)
May you still bring smiles to everyones face as you live on in our hearts.
Thank you to your dear family who raised so well, for all their love. May blessings and comfort come to them at this time of loss.

Dear DAD, I love you more than life. I carry you every day in my heart and will always love you. I am trying to stay strong . Rest in peace my beloved father and please stay with me always like we said ! Please always look down on us, guide us, love us and keep us strong to go on . We need that and your continuous love always I am struggling but trying to keep the faith that you are OK in gods hands, always looking down on us, still taking care of us and knowing my heart is forever broken without yours ! Somehow, someway I hope your soul reaches mine and I know that you're safe and happy now with where you are and all that I have done ?
