BARNARD, George Edward After a hard-fought battle at home with cancer for over a year, on Friday, September 3, 2004 at the Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital at 71 years of age. He will be remembered by his loving wife of 53 years, Donna Barnard (nee Clarke) and greatly missed by his children: his son and daughter-in-law, George and Bonnie, his son, Edward, his son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Diane, his daughter and son-in-law Rebecca and James Hartman and his daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Kyle Devitt. He will be lovingly remembered as "Papa" to his fourteen grandchildren and great-granddaughter: George and Natalie Barnard and their daughter Jaden, Kimberly Barnard and Trevor Riehl; Devon Barnard and Melinda and Kris Becker; Patrick and fiancee Tauyna Wideman, Daniel, Adam and Laura Barnard; Emily, Lindsay, Courtney and Timothy Hartman; Liam and Lily Grace Devitt. He will also be fondly remembered by his mother-in-law, Alice Clarke of Windsor, his sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Bruce Philp of Windsor and his many nieces and nephews. George is predeceased by his parents, George and Florence Barnard and his siblings, John, Newton and Marion. We will all cherish the time that we have had with him since his retirement in 1994 from three decades with Lindsay Morden (Morden and Helwith) Insurance Adjusters. Cremation has taken place. Please help us to remember him and to celebrate his life at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa Street South (at Westmount Rd.), Kitchener, , on Monday, September 6, 2004 with a Memorial Service from 6:30 until 7 p.m. and a gathering of friends and family from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The interment of his ashes will occur at Victoria Memorial Cemetery in Windsor on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Please offer expressions of sympathy and memory to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or the Community Care Access Centre of Waterloo Region through the Westmount Funeral Chapel at 743-8900. Our special thanks to Dr. Donna Ward and our family's gratitude to Dr. George Berrigan and Staff for care "above and beyond".
