George Carich Obituary

Published by The Province on Apr. 8, 2005.
CARICH _ Capt. George Born December 1, 1937 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather on March 14, 2005. George will be dearly missed by his best friend, soulmate, and wife of 47 years, Sherry, and by his children and grandchildren of whom he was so proud: daughter Kari and grandson Jayson, son Stephen with wife Meaghan and granddaughters Rachel and Esteva, and son David. His loyalty and unconditional love for his family was truly inspiring for all of us. An exceptional man who faced the many challenges in his life with great strength, confidence, and intensity, George Carich had the confidence to do what other people wouldn't even want to try. If you showed him anything once, he would do it better than you. Throughout his career in the marine industry as a towboat captain and later in management, first with Rivtow then Chemainius towing, he cared about his co-workers, and earned their respect. He had the knack of getting the best out of people because they knew that's what he gave, and expected. At the same time, he was a gentle soul with a love for animals, cooking, fishing, and fixing anything he could get his hands on. Although we will all miss having George in our lives, we are thankful for the time we had with this extraordinary man.A celebration of his life will be held on Aprill 22nd at Beecher Hall, 12160 Beecher Rd, Crescent Beach at 12:00pm.
