George Coviello Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 2, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George K. Coviello (57). George unexpectedly passed away on December 24, 2023. George was born in Okinawa, Japan, to Duane and Kazuyo Coviello. He lived there with his parents and (eldest) sister before moving to Oahu, Hawaii. In 1971, they moved to San Francisco. He attended St. Cecilia grammar school and continued his education at Saint Ignatius High School. After graduating from S.I. in 1984, George enlisted in the U.S. Army. Proudly serving, he quickly rose to Sergeant. With the same dedication and purpose to serve, he joined the San Francisco Sheriff's Department, proudly working as a Deputy for 22 years. From a young age, George was an avid reader, and his love for literature was unparalleled. He was interested in all things historical, religious mysteries, science fiction, and fantasy, with his favorite being JRR Tolkien. His eyes would light up with joy, engaging in lengthy discussions about shared interests. George was a kind, generous, and loyal soul whose impact on the lives around him was immeasurable. The void left by his departure is not only a loss to his family and friends but to the countless individuals who were touched by his kindness. He is survived by his wife, Sunita, son Alexander; daughter Katherine; parents, Duane and Kazuyo; his two sisters, Sallie (Mike) Pacheco and Nancy Coviello; and nephew, Sean Dunphy.

Services will be held at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1965 Reliez Valley Road in Lafayette, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Visitation and Mass at chapel on site. Family Visitation 10-10:30 AM. Public Visitation 10:30-11:00 AM. Mass at 11:00 AM.

I´ll remember George for his awesome writing abilities! I would tease him If he was sitting at the computer typing, I would say, "George, Let me know when your done with that book" he would just look at me and smile. He didn´t waste his words He spoke as necessary or when engaged, and he always stayed ready for anything that he was called to do.
