Dear Holland Family,

Please accept our heartfelt condolence on the passing of your father/grandfather/great grandfather.

We first met George in 1985, nearly 30 years ago, when we asked him for renovations assistance at our house on Monkland Avenue, NDG. Since that time, he was a frequent visitor to our home, where he shared his vast knowledge and expertise from the basement to the roof and everything in between.

I (Bernadette) would like to thank George for his many pots of Irish shamrocks and plants, and his appreciation of my Irish baked bread, which I hope he will taste again in heaven.

I (Brendan) will always remember what he told me one day as I was about to cut a hole in the roof: “Never be afraid to do what another man can do.” I often told people that he was one of the smartest men I ever knew, as he could do anything with his hands. He always saw the solution beyond the problem.

We often talk about him and the times he worked, dined and shared great stories together.

We miss him.

To the Holland Clan,

I only knew George for a short while, as he was friends with my mother Marjorie at Ste Anne's. We are truly saddened by his passing and wish to express our sympathies to your entire family. We will certainly miss him when we visit.
