Im saddened to hear about his passing. My deepest sympathy to his family, friends and patient and staff. He was a kind, compassionate doctor who treated my glaucoma for many many years. He will be greatly missed.

Dr. Panagakis performed cataract surgery on my eyes May 8 and May 22 this year but I met him about 5 years ago when he did my husbands cataract surgeries. I was so comfortable knowing he would do the procedures on my eyes knowing how caring he was with my husband. On my follow up appointment after my second surgery we ended up talking about the storm that had gone through Mahomet the night before and how much damage occurred on his property. He took a few minutes to share photos he had taken. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing and my prayers are for all who loved and cared about Dr. George. May their shared memories be a comfort for them now and always.

My husband had very complex eye issues that needed delicate surgery and after-care. Dr. Panagakis worked, as many people are saying, miracles. This is heartbreaking news. He was so nice to us, so patient. God, take care of him, please.

What a tremendous loss to the community and to all who knew and loved him. A gentle soul and consummate professional with a unique understanding, quiet George was ever courteous and considerate, placing others' needs foremost. With a calm manner and sincere "hello, my friend," he always put patients at ease. Such phenomenal hard work, service, and kindness were invaluable, and such a special person cannot be replaced, either as dedicated doctor or true gentleman. Rest in peace, George.

Dr. Panagakis did 3 eye surgeries on my son. Thanks to his great work my son can see good enough that he is playing in a little league all star game this weekend. Without Dr. Panagakis that might not of ever happened. We are extremely grateful for him and will miss him and never forget him.

He did my father's cataract surgery over a year ago and my father is elderly and we were worried but it was a miracle surgery and he was so kind during it. I was so sorry to see this news.

Dr. Panagakis was an amazing person to work with. He performed my daughter's surgery and did everything he could to keep us both at ease, he even wore a flashing red nose for her. He was a wonderful person.

He was a friend to me and likely everyone who met him. A gentle, generous soul who was more concerned about me than I was about myself, asking about my family every time we bumped into each other. I loved him dearly.

He was the kindest person. I was the lucky one to work with him on his first day at Carle Foundation Hospital. He was so polite. When I was anxious about having a special corneal transplant, he called me at my home in Texas to explain the procedure to me. He will always be in my thoughts. I have Connie and the children in my thoughts an prayers.
