George Schoeder, 83, Wausau, died Saturday July 20, 2013, at his home, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. He was born April 23, 1930, in Milwaukee, son of the late Andrew and Isabelle (Potter) Schoeder. George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. On September 30, 2000, he married Jackie Bittner in Wausau. She survives. From 1968 until the time of his retirement in 2000, George was the owner and operator of Trails End. He was a longtime member of the Tavern League of Wisconsin, a life member of Wausau Elks Lodge No. 248 and a charter member of the Rib Mountain Snowmobile Club.George was a terrific cribbage player, intimidating his foes and rarely losing! Among his many interests, he avidly pursued playing league golf, bowling, snowmobiling and was especially proud to be a season ticket holder of his beloved Packers. He will be remembered as an exceptional Grandpa and the fond memories he created will be treasures held dear to his grandchildren's hearts. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Jackie; four children, Debra (Roy) Edwards, Plymouth, Minn., Michael (Stephanie) Schoeder, Salinas, Calif., Lisa (Peter) Douglas, Monticeda, Calif., Scott (Chrystal) Schoeder, Prescott, Ariz., two step daughters, Rebecca Jackson, Wausau and Stacey (Ben Duberstein) Landrath, Edgar; 17 grandchildren, six siblings, Andrew (Christine) Schoeder, Wausau, Katie (Marshall) Falk, Wausau, Shirley Bickford, Schofield, Pat Erdmann, Schofield, Gerry (Bill) Frazer, New Jersey, Sharon (Gene) McGuire, Las Vegas, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides his parents, Andrew and Isabelle Schoeder, he was preceded in death by his 'In-laws, Sonny and Dorothy Bittner. Funeral services will be 5:00 p.m. Weds. July 24, 2013 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Rib Mountain. Rev. Jennifer Collins will officiate. Friends may call on Weds. from 2:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
