Geraldine Hafner

Geraldine Hafner, Scranton, died peacefully Monday while holding the hands of her daughter and granddaughter. She was the widow of Carl Hafner, who died March 7, 2015. They had been married for 58 years.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of Peter and Loretta Robinson Stasits. Prior to retirement, she worked in the local garment industry for many years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in West Scranton.

Geraldine was the best mom and friend that a daughter and granddaughter could ever have. She loved her home and spending time with the family, especially her granddaughter and great-grandchildren. She was an avid shopper who loved going every week with her daughter.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Salvatore Lawrence for the years of care and kindness he provided, as well as Compassionate Care Hospice for the care they provided in her final days. They would also like to thank some of her kind daily nurses Tia, Ericka, Millie, Jessica and several of her nurse's aides.

Surviving are a daughter, Gerilynn and her husband, Edward Williams, Scranton; her granddaughter, Gerilynn "the Baby" Price and her husband, Shane, Scranton; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Donald Price and Chloe Lynn Price; two sisters, Josephine Orzel; and Loretta Gerrity and her husband, Tom, all of Scranton; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Maryann Klebon and Pauline Kotchick.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel in West Scranton.
