Geraldine Wilson Ladson, longtime educator in the Northside Independent School District, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2004. Geraldine was born November 16, 1948 in Selma, AL to Essie B. Green Wilson Paschal and John Wesley Wilson. The family later moved to Macon, GA. She was the third of four children born to that union. Geraldine was baptized at an early age. She attended Tennessee State University where she met her future husband, Alfred Ladson Jr. of Mobile, AL. While at Tennessee State she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Upon graduation from Tennessee State in 1970 with a bachelor of arts in English, she married Alfred on December 24, 1971. Geraldine and Alfred had four children. She later received a master of arts degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Geraldine was employed by the Northside School District for 32 years with 29 of those years spent teaching English at John Jay High School. During the last three years of her career she taught at John Marshall High School. She was very proud to have touched the lives of so many young people. Geraldine was a faithful member of Emmanuel A.M.E. Church where she sung in the Senior Choir. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Alfred Jr.; daughters, LaShanda Ladson, Tinesha Ladson Wise and Shante Ladson, all of Dallas; son, Alfred Ladson III of Dallas; son-in-law, Gerald Wise of Dallas; grandson, Elijah Wise of Dallas; mother and father-in-law, Alfred Sr. and Willie Mae Ladson of San Antonio; sisters, Juanita (Richard) Battle of Rochester, NY, Gwen Sinclair of Norfolk, VA, Rita Childers of Macon, GA; brother, John Paschal of Oakland, CA; loving sisters-in-law, Rev. Marilyn Andrews, Beverly (Roland) Flowers and Cynthia Ladson. all of San Antonio; devoted friends, Georgia Edwards, Lurlene Adams and Sally Grant; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, colleagues and friends. Omega Omega Services are scheduled for 6:00 P.M., Friday, January 23, 2004 followed by Visitation at 7:00 P.M. Both the Visitation and Omega Omega Services will be held at the Lewis Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled for 9:30 A.M., Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Emmanuel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. I.V. Tolbert officiating.
