Geraldine Catherine Sylve Norman

Geraldine Catherine Sylve Norman (Mama Gerry) peacefully passed away, Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 2:15 am. She was born in New Orleans, LA on October 19, 1929. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Bartholomew Sylve and Odelia Roche; 1 daughter, Sylvonia Norman; 4 brothers, Joseph Sylve (Ruby), Howard Sylve (Loretta), Michael Sylve (Daisy) and Norman Sylve (Delores). She was the beloved wife of the late Albert Lee Norman. She was a member of the St. Paul Baptist Church and served as a devoted deaconess for over 40 years. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War. She loved writing many things, original poems, letters of encouragement and inspiration to her children and grandchildren, historical events, etc. She leaves to cherish her memories, 3 children, Marlene Crawford (Bobby), Patricia Batiste and Tyrone Norman (Treasa); one sister, Anthona Shirley Holmes (Willie); 6 grandchildren, Michael (Connie), Leonard (Jessica), Samuel (Tina), Daniyel, Amber and Angelle and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was a dearly loved extended family member and employee to Dr. Kenneth and Gayle Alfortish for over 50 years and children Kenny, Shelley, Cynthia and Timothy. She enjoyed attending along with her daughters lectures and songs of praise given by the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research, Founder and Dean Dr. Henry C. Kinley. New Orleans Westbank Dean, Dr. Sheryl Sonia. Mom was loved by many for her soft spoken words of encouragement and beautiful smile. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a funeral service at St. Paul Baptist Church, 1509 Monroe Street, Gretna, LA 70053 on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
