Gerry Lou Dripps-Young

Gerry Lou (Dripps) Young, born November 17, 1944, passed away on January 3, 2025, in Lancaster, Texas.

A devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Gerry touched many lives with her unwavering dedication to helping others. She pursued a career in nursing while raising her son and maintaining full-time employment-an enduring testament to her strength and determination. Her passion for caregiving extended beyond her profession; she was known for offering support to anyone in need, always balancing compassion with honesty.

Gerry was part of a large and close-knit family. She had five sisters: Marie Elaine Barr (deceased), Betty Jean LeBoeuf (deceased), Mary Kathryn Hughes (living), Dorothy Sue Anderson (deceased), and Ruth Ann Sands (living). She is survived by her husband, Darwin Marx "Mark" Young; her son, Todd Alan; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 22 nieces and nephews, four of whom have also passed. Gerry played an important nurturing role in the lives of many of these family members during their early years.

Her straightforward nature and heartfelt care left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Even in her final days, Gerry remained committed to helping others-a reflection of the values she held throughout her life.

Graveside services were held at Chapel Heights Cemetery in Marion, Ohio, on April 11.

Gerry's memory will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
