Gertrude Lindley Obituary

FLORENCE -- Gertrude Hall Lindley, 84, widow of Owen Penn Lindley, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, in a local hospital after an illness.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, in Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, and other times at her residence, 1307 Jackson Ave., Florence.

She was born in Cheraw, a daughter of the late John and Lula Hall. She was a homemaker and co-owner of Lindley Appliance Company in Florence.

Mrs. Lindley was a very active member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Dwight Owen (Becky) Lindley of Florence, David Woodson Lindley of Raleigh, N.C., and Daniel Hall (Kim) Lindley of Indianapolis; a sister, Leoda (Jim) Cargal of Akron, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Wayne Lindley of Graham, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Rebbecca Joy Lindley and Michael Dwight Lindley.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 915 Cherokee Road, Florence, SC 29501.

I am sad to hear of her death. I worked for her and Mr. Lindley in 1983 and she was very a kind and caring person. My kindest regards to her family. They were lucky to have her in their lives and I am sure she will be deeply missed.
