Gina Campbell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 21 to Mar. 22, 2023.
Gina Arnold Campbell, born 14.vii.1952, left us on 8.ii.2023 to join Bertie and Jeeves in that Blandings Castle in the sky.

Her life was always a great adventure: from hanging out with The Group--Ann, Aleen, Barbara, Jean, Libby, and Susan--to going off to UGA, from marrying Andrew to being a mother to Alex, and from being a mother-in-law to Valentina to being a grandmother to Laszlo. Over the years her world got small on one level: from being able to walk a mile and climb stairs to the 13th floor of Patterson Office Tower to sitting on a yard stool weeding flower beds and saying to the worms, "i am not going to hurt you but i am going to move over there," to being confined to bed at the end. She never complained about her losses from M S, and all the folks she came into contact with on this journey commented on her cheerful attitude and witty comments.

She had always wanted to celebrate her birthday in Paris and join in all the excitement of Bastille Day. A week or so before her last hospitalization, she was clear and energetic and her eyes were bright and she said, "hey, let's talk." i said "okay." She said, "i really want to go to Paris for my birthday this year." i said, "okay, let's do it."

Maybe next time.

I remember Botticelli parties at her parents house with Libby´s mysterious secret curry dip, jaunts to the old Bradley Library, the multitude of blue Slurpees consumed in the LaSalle, "rolling" Mr. Peter´s house, and humorous observations made in Gina´s own version of a (Chattahoochee) Valley Girl voice.

At Johnson Elementary School, we used to "play" softball in the far, far outfield and talk about books. More memories than I can say here. Andrew, thank you for this gift to us all.

I always had happy times with Gina, and will remember her fondly. Andrew, If you come this way, don't be a stranger.
