Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Roger Will officiating. Gordon was born in Hoi Ping, China, on May 26, 1938. He lived in Hong Kong until he immigrated to Canada at the age of 18, where he learned to cook Chinese food. He resided in Calgary, Alberta, where he met his wife of 46 years, Fayline (Yip), while working as a bellman. They moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba (MB) where he continued in the same profession and shortly thereafter in 1976 opened his first Chinese restaurant in Minot, ND. In 1978, they moved to Bismarck, ND, to open the Chinese restaurants: The Wok, The Egg Roll, and The Jade Garden. In 1998, as Fay's Parkinson's disease progressed, Gordon retired as a Chef and worked part-time at Dan's SuperMarket and cared for Fay at home. A devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family and cooking for them. Gordon shared his Chinese cooking secrets while teaching at Bismarck State College. His favorite past time was visiting with all of his friends and family with whom he treasured. He is survived by his wife, Fayline; three daughters; Deborah Jonson (Jeff), Su-Lin Tschider (Stacy), and Terri-Lin Woo, all in Bismarck; four grandsons, Jaden and Jonas Jonson, Samuel Tschider and Noah Rose, all in Bismarck; brothers, Jim (Kitty) and Ye Cheong (Sheila), both of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Chui Yiu (Shun Pu) of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; and nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his father, Hau Shuen Woo and mother, Mei Chiu Woo and brother Yue Wing Woo.
