Gregg Micillo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 30, 2018.
It is with great sadness that the family of Gregg Raymond Micillo announces his passing after a brief illness on September 28, 2018, at the age of 54 years. Gregg was a devoted husband, father, and friend, and he will be forever missed.
Born and raised in Queens, New York, Gregg attended Catholic schools all his life, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business from St. John's University.
Gregg met the love of his life, Darleen, at age 18, and the two dated for 8 years before marrying. Once married, they had their first daughter, Crystal, and moved to Bellevue, Tennessee, where Gregg pursued a career in sales at Best Brands, Inc. After a short time living in Bellevue, Gregg and Darleen bought their first house in Brentwood, Tennessee. In this home, their family grew to include three more daughters, Ashley, Savannah, and Victoria. Gregg's four girls were his pride and joy, and his family was the most important thing in his life.
After working in sales for several years, Gregg opened his own business, Magic Carpet Cleaning Service. He started the business out of the back of his wife's minivan, toting around a portable carpet cleaning machine. Gregg grew the business from the ground up, and he took great pride in expanding to multiple large vans with top-notch machinery. He loved the rush of going out in his work van and running the business that he built by the sweat of his brow. Everyone who knew Gregg could testify to his unfailing work ethic and passion for business.
In his free time, Gregg's true love was spending time with his family. Gregg owned a condo in Destin, Florida for several years, and he spent every New Year's Eve with his family in that condo on the beach. He was also an avid cruiser, and became a Carnival Cruise Platinum member. His favorite time was spent on a cruise ship with his wife and daughters, particularly at Mr. Sancho's beach in the port of Cozumel, Mexico. Gregg loved to swim, and in fact swam every day at the Brentwood Rec Center, but his favorite place to swim was in the ocean at one of the many beautiful beaches he travelled to throughout his life.
Recently, Gregg was able to see Crystal begin law school at Belmont University, and see her get engaged to a man he grew to love dearly, Matt. Gregg got to see Ashley gain acceptance to the prestigious art program at University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. He got to see Savannah begin down her path towards nursing school at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. And he got to see Victoria start her senior year of high school at Brentwood High. He was so proud of his girls, and he made sure everyone knew it. Gregg also had a wonderful year, travelling with his sweet wife Darleen on several vacations, just enjoying life with the woman he loved.
It is impossible to sum up such an amazing man in a few short paragraphs. Gregg's family and friends will forever carry him in their hearts. His loving nature, brilliant mind, contagious laugh, warm hugs, sweet smile, and perfect soul will be some of the many things that will be deeply and fiercely missed by Gregg's loved ones.
Gregg will be lovingly remembered by his wife and childhood sweetheart of 37 years, Darleen, and their four daughters, Crystal (Matt), Ashley, Savannah, and Victoria. Gregg also leaves behind his best little buddy, Cosmo, his puppy. Gregg was predeceased by his parents, George and Eleanor Micillo.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4, from two o'clock until four o'clock pm and six o'clock until eight o'clock pm at Brentwood Roesch Patton Funeral Home, 9010 Church Street East. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Bulso in Gregg's honor will be Friday, October 5, at eleven o'clock am at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6401 Harding Pike.
Memorial contributions in memory of Gregg may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I attended elementary school at Holy Family in Fresh Meadows with Gregg Micillo. My deepest condolences, prayers, go out to you, Darleen and your beautiful daughters and extended family as well as on the loss of his beloved Mother and your Mother-in-Law, Eleanor who I got to know as well. As a believer of Christ, I know he as well as his Mother rest with our Lord. I will never forget the respectful young man and classmate and first boy I had crush on who carried my books in school. He had the most upbeat, positive personality, very bright and am happy although deeply saddened and shocked at his passinghe was blessed having had a beautiful life with you, his beloved wife and lovely daughters. May He Rest In Peace and know I have sent a donation in his memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. I am sad we never met but know his love lives on in you all - I will never forget and always remember him and keep you all in my constant, daily prayers. With my Sincere Deepest Condolences in Christ, Christina Martelli

We knew Gregg as children since my mother, Joan and Gregg's mother, Eleanor were best friends since they met in their twenties. I will remember our days as kids on the beach at Reis Park in New York. I know you are with your lovely mother now. You will be missed Gregg. My prayers are for you and your family.
