Gregory J. Darrington was born on June 19, 1950, in Gary, Indiana to the union of James and Doris
Darrington. He was the oldest of three and was affectionately called “Mouse” by some and “Julio” by
our very own Pastor “T”. He was also an honorary grandson to Bettye J. Brooks and Uncle to her
children.
During his lifetime he held many positions, Truck Driver, Maintenance Engineer, Rehab Specialist,
Heavy Equipment Operator/CDL Trainer, Environmental Hazmat Trainer and his most popular
position was, Greg “Do It All” Darrington.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1971 as a Field Wireman with an honorable discharge. He was a
faithful member of Tree of Life Missionary Baptist under the leadership of Dr. Cato Brooks, Jr. until his
passing, where he also served as an associate Minister and Choir Director.
On January 29, 2017, he moved his membership to First Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church under the
leadership of Pastor Dyke E. Lee, Sr.
He attended Frobel High School but graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School. He also
attended Midland Career Institute where he graduated on April 23, 1991.
On August 17, 1991, he was joined in matrimony to Minnie L. Law. They became a blended family, with
his son, Dewan Lane and her daughter, Krystal Law.
He traded his earthly life for eternal rest with God on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at I U Health Methodist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; James and Doris Darrington; 2 Nieces, Myesha Harvey and
Kamesha Parker. 1 Nephew, Billy Young.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Minnie Darrington, 1 son, Dewan (Olivia) Lane; 1
daughter, Krystal Armstead; 6 grandchildren, Destiny (Jaylen) Armour-Reese; Shaun Law, Dewan Lane,
Jr.; Trinity Armstead; Adrianna Lane and Brianna Lane; 2 sisters, Yolanda Harvey and Kim Patton;
along with a host of other relatives and friends.

I remember Greg, I used to call him uncle Greg, because I saw myesha and kamesha as my sisters. I lived next door. And I always saw Greg busy doing something. He used to crush cans for money and put dirt in them for weight, lol I asked him why he was doing that, he said to get more money. Lol
He was really nice to all. Very respectful and we all were like family. My Condolences to the Darrington family

Greg and I were friends as Pulaski Dunbar and Froebel. I last saw him at our 50th class reunion at the Froebel Park. My prayers go out to his family.

Praying with and for the family of Gregory. We attended school together at Froebel and his father was director at my home church Christian Valley under Dr.C.H.Taylor. Greg was a nice person and involved in several churches . Praying with and for his family in the days ahead .
