DOUGLAS, Gregory (Greg) Glen On May 13, 2002, Greg Douglas passed away suddenly at the age of 47 years. Greg was born and raised in Regina, SK. He attended Marion McVeety Public School and Campbell Collegiate graduating in 1973. He was a very active energetic fun-loving child and this stayed with him throughout his life. He showed talent and developed a keen interest in music, drama and drawing at an early age, which also carried over into his adult life. After high school he moved to Calgary and ultimately Edmonton. He studied drama briefly in London, England and returned to Calgary where he performed in a number of professional productions. A little later, he moved to Edmonton to study sign language interpreting at Grant MacEwan College. Greg became a dedicated interpreter and a devoted member of the Edmonton Deaf community alongside his partner Randy Dziwenka. His involvement with the Edmonton Association of the Deaf was everlasting. Alongside Randy, they worked hard together to assist in hosting the Canadian Deaf Festival, 2000. As well, Greg was actively involved in achievements of EAD's Summer Camp for Deaf children. Greg will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved partner of thirteen years, Randy Dziwenka. Greg leaves behind: two brothers and a sister, Zach (Carol) and their children, Matthew and Sylvia of Regina, SK; Rita and her son, Joel of Vancouver, BC; and Shawn (Kim) of Pense, SK, Randy's sister and brothers; Marjorie (Gordon) Lang, Marvin (Hilda) Dziwenka, David Dziwenka (Linda Nickel); and the Dziwenka nieces and nephews, Nanette (Grant) Stelter, Kayla, Pierce; Yvonne (Asaph) Fernandes, Kiera, Susie (Jan), Elysia, Ben, Devin and Damon; Gizmo and Bandit, their faithful dogs; and countless friends. Greg was predeceased by his parents, Norman Carlton and Jean Eloise Douglas and his brother, Kent Douglas. A Gathering to Celebrate Greg's life will be held Saturday, May 18 from 1;00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Edmonton Association of the Deaf Community Centre, 11404-142 Street, Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edmonton Association of the Deaf Community Centre, 11404-142 Street, Edmonton, AB T5M 1V1 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 10985-124 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5M 9Z9.
