Gregory Jon Grebe went home to heaven hiking to the summit on Flattop on June 23, 2015. He was doing his favorite thing, on his favorite mountain, with his favorite person, his wife and best friend, Mary. Greg's life verse was Psalms 16:11, "You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." Greg left a Legacy of Christ, a legacy not written in stone, but in the hearts of so many people. His celebration of life will be held on July 1, 2015, at 10 a.m., at Changepoint in Anchorage, Alaska. Greg was born on July 31, 1951, in Hamburg, Iowa. He graduated from Western State College, in Gunnison, Colo. He went to law school at the University of Puget Sound School of Law, in Tacoma, Wash. He practiced law for 38 years and he had his own successful practice for 30 years. He was a pioneer in the Alaska legal community. His honesty, integrity, and ethics was made known throughout his career. He moved to Alaska in 1976, and has been a resident ever since. He loved the mountains and Alaska. He was a hiker, hunter, fisher, painter and pilot. He hiked all over Alaska, Washington, Idaho and Colorado. In 2009, he hiked McKinley with his son, Todd. Greg's life was about people and relationships and pointing people to Christ. He was a member of Changepoint for many years and served as a deacon and led the Path of Life for more than five years. He volunteered in many places throughout Alaska, mainly the Anchorage Rescue Mission and Wildwood Correctional Center. If people wish to give donations in his honor, they can be given to the Rescue Mission, as people were his life passion and calling. Greg is survived by his wife, Mary Grebe; and four kids, Justin Grebe, Todd Grebe, Michelle Hamilton and Nicole Wood; and ten grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Dovie Mosley; and brothers, Gordon Grebe and Jeff Grebe. He is preceded in death by his father, Byron; and brother, Stan. Greg had special relationship with his brother Stan and we know that you two are together. "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. I met Greg in 1978 when we were both Associates at Bradburry Bliss and Riordon. We both wanted to be trial lawyers, and we did. He welcomed me into the Country and we explored hiking trails and fishing holes and shared our joys that increased them, and our sorrows that reduced them. Your Dad helped me, just as he helped countless others, I looked forward to checking in with Greg on my yearly visits after my 1985 exit. Our world is a better place because of him.

Greg was a customer at the coffee shop I work at. He was one of my favorite customers! Always smiling, in a good mood, friendly, easy to talk to, and he always tipped! It was a pleasure serving him coffee and chatting with him from time to time. He was an inspiring person and I know he lived his life to the fullest! I first met Greg in the late '70s when we both came to Alaska. Several of our kids were good friends in high school. Greg and I were both attorneys but we only had one case together. Greg was an honest capable man who loved his life in Alaska and made everyone around him comfortable. He will be missed by all who knew him and our sympathy is with his family for his untimely passing.

Greg will be greatly missed! He was a doer for the Lord! I remember a time when he took me to the Rescue Mission to share my testimony because he knew where I came from. He was the biggest help in our Yukon ministry. He had a vision for the ministry, and always willing to help people. He loved to teach the Word. He loved to be outside, I enjoyed hunting with him. We had plans to go up the Noatak river again this year. Mary and family we will miss him, but this is not a goodbye - Praise God!

Greg was such an amazing man. He loved the Lord with heart just as he loved his wife, Mary and his family.
