Ms. Dean was my typing teacher at Boswell High School almost 50 years ago. She gave me a skill that helped me make a living and transition into the computer world in which we all live now. I remember her smiles and the affection she had for all of her students.

I'm so sad to hear that Ms. Dean is gone. I had been thinking of her so much recently and had planned on trying to get in touch with her. She was such a wonderful teacher and friend as well. I have great memories of her and the way she always encouraged us and taught us to demand respect. She will be missed.

Thank all of you for your wonderful memories of Gwende, Ms. Dean or as we knew her as G.G. (Grandma Gwen). I appreciate all of your kind words.

I'm so sorry to hear of Ms. Dean's passing. She was a big part of my high school life and I took many memorable BPA trips with her (winning State!!). My thoughts are with her family.

Biff, I was so sorry to read about the passing of Gwende. She taught me how to type at Boyd High. She was one of my favorite teachers because she cared about her students.

Mrs. Dean was one of my favorite teachers at Boswell High School. Of course, she taught me typing and shorthand. One of my fondest memories is a FTA trip to Houston with Mrs. Dean as the chaperone. We had so much fun! Mrs. Dean had the gift of being able to have fun with her students while maintaining their respect. May happy memories give you comfort. Pam Scott Goodson (Carthage, Texas)

Mrs. Dean was my typing teacher at Boswell in the early 60's. She was someone who felt like a friend as well as a teacher. You could really "talk" to her. She was very special to a lot of people.

A truly nice teacher who taught me typing, my most useful skill after reading and writing.
She once told us about waking in the night with a June bug crawling in her ear and had to drive to the ER to have it removed by a nurse.
