Gwendolyn (Gwen) Warren (Bonham)

February 20,1929

July 24, 2015

Gwen passed peacefully in her sleep from heart failure at her home in Fallon, NV. Born in Stockton, CA but raised as a young girl in Mtn. Ranch and Railroad Flat, CA. She got her first 22 rifle from her uncle at the age of 9 and learned to shoot and hunt.

Went to High School in Stockton. Moved to Reno, NV with her husband and three children in 1952. She went to work at Harrahs in Reno learned Roulette and to deal 21. Her dealing career took her to the Mapes Hotel where she met her husband Bill Warren who was a boss in gaming at the Holiday Hotel. They bought a Ranch in Loyalton, CA in Sierra Valley where Gwen became very active in the Community. She taught 4-H girls cooking and sewing circle, involved in The Grange, very active in her Church. She had two of her children in High School so she participated in most school functions. Gwen always had a Garden. She loved fresh vegetables and fruit and shared her bounty with friends & families wherever she found them. Gwen loved animals. She spent much time riding horses, walking her dogs, had cats, chickens and there always seemed to be a herd of cattle around so branding was always part of the life style she loved so much. Her son Rod and his wife Ginny lived on the Ranch also and were always first to help Gwen round up cattle, mend fences, feed bummers, garden, butcher and many other chores while her husband was working in Reno. After years in Sierra Valley she and her husband sold the Ranch, went in partners with daughter Gayle and son-in-law Bill in Grandview, ID where she also was very involved in her community. The partnership moved to Fallon, NV to include The Jackpot Mini Mart, Headquarters Bar & Casino and the Town of Valmy, NV where Gwen was actively involved in all the ventures. That partnership lasted 20 years. Gwen became a member of the Methodist Church in Fallon. She had a special place in her heart for her Church family. It was important to her to participate in the many Church functions. She joined the PEO Sorority and was an active member for 16 years. Gwen supported many organizations in Fallon. CAPS animal rescue was one of her favorites as well as the Library as she was an avid reader. She loved to enter her Flowers and her canning in the County Fair. In her 86 years Gwen made many friends and touched the lives of many more. We will dearly miss her lovely smile, laughter and kind heart.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents Roy & Esther Bonham, Sisters, Wanda Bonham & Barbara Fopiano, brother,Vernon Bonham, husband Bill Warren, son Jerry Taylor, son-in-law Bill Morrison.

Gwen was a beautiful person inside and out. Vern (her brother and I, Pat, married for 53 years before his passing) lived with gwen in Sacramento for a time in our early marriage. I was blessed to be part of her life for over 53 years.
