Gwendolyn Cavin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 27, 2014.
Gwendolyn Tyson Cavin CHINA GROVE - Gwendolyn Tyson Cavin passed away, peacefully surrounded by her family, on April 25, 2014, at Hospice House of Cabarrus County. Gwen was born on Nov. 7, 1928, in Kannapolis to Bryan and Virginia Starnes Tyson. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Martin Cavin, and twin sister Jacquolyn Tyson Fink. Gwen resided in China Grove for over 45 years and was a loving and faithful member of the Mt. Zion U.C.C. She had a deep love for her church, its members and its clergy. Some of her happiest days were at her church and when she was participating in its many activities. She had been a resident of Trinity Oaks Retirement Home of Salisbury for 10 months prior to her death. She was a graduate of Cannon High School, Kannapolis, and attended High Point College, High Point. Gwen worked in the Data Processing Office of Cannon Mills for many years. Gwen is survived by her sister Libby Pressley and husband, Sam, of Landis, and brother, Dr. Edward Tyson and wife, Nancy, of Kannpolis, as well as brother-in-law Edward Fink, of Kannapolis. Gwen truly loved her family, but especially her niece and nephews who were like her own children - Keith and Dean Fink, Scott and Brent Pressley, Bryan Tyson, and Brooke Tyson Hynes. No less loved by Gwen were the children of her niece and nephews: Bryan Fink, Tyson and Lee Catherine Fink, Matthew Pressley, Savannah and Cameron Pressley, Ryan and Riley Tyson, and Caleb and Jack Hynes. Gwen also had many close friends that she cherished, and they her. Over the years she loved to travel with friends and play cards with her canasta girls. Honoring Gwen's request, there will be no formal visitation or service, and graveside rites will be with only family present. Memorials may be made to either Mt. Zion U.C.C. of China Grove or Hospice of Cabarrus County. Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove is serving the Cavin family.

I had the pleasure of working with Gwen at Pillowtex. She was a wonderful coworker and was a joy to everyone who knew her. My deepest sympathy is extended to her family. May God give them the peace that passes all understanding.
