I did not personally know DeWitt Barnett, but he will be well remembered among schoolmates at the Shanghai American School from the years when he attended there with his brothers and future wife.

His passing will be memorialized in the periodical of the school's alumni association, the SASA News.

It was my pleasure to have worked with DeWitt during my tenure at New Garden Friends School. DeWitt had a deep sense of honesty and fairness. His keen mind and thoughtful manner were obvious. That beautiful smile of his will be missed.

I had the pleasure of serving on the New Garden Friends School Board of Trustees with DeWitt. He was a compassionate and gracious man with an insightful concern for social justice. NGFS is a better place because of their connection with Dewitt. My prayers are with his family.

Please accept my condolences.

When DeWitt represented the Hawai'i Area committee to the Pacific SouthWest Regional Executive Committee, we always appreciated his warmth -- and his clear insights on how to move program and other matters forward.
