Hans HAGEN Obituary
1932 – 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hans Jorg Hagen on September 16, 2016 at the age of 84 after a brief illness.
He leaves behind his loving wife and companion of 48 years Andree, his sisters Sonja (Dieter) Ricarda and Solveig, his daughter Sylvia, his son Peter, his grandchildren Rebecka (Mike), David (Athena), Tamara, Steven, Thomas and Ryan and his great-grandchildren Grant, Colin and Oliver.
Hans arrived in Canada from Munich, Germany in 1954. A musician at heart, he played in several nightclubs in Montreal. In 1956 he opened his first nightclub The Bathtub followed by The Talisman later known as The Bachelor's Three and finally the Stork Club which he renovated and re- introduced as La Nuit en Rose. Looking for a new challenge, Hans went into real estate. He went on to attend Vanier College and took classes at McGill University and in 1989 he took over The West Island Motor League Driving School in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. He successfully operated the school for 26 years.
Hans will be remembered for his unshakable optimism, his curiosity, his boundless energy, his enthusiasm in every undertaking and most of all his joie de vivre. Hans always looked for the positive side of life, he saw possibilities rather than hardships. His last written sentence was "Life is Beautiful" and he meant it. We will never forget his beautiful smile, we will miss him forever.
As he requested, private funeral services will be held in Munich. Donations may be made to the Montreal Neurological Institute.
