Harmon Brown

Harmon F. Brown, 91, of Ocean City, NJ passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 surrounded by his family. Born in Phoenixville, PA and raised in Oxford, he and his beloved wife of 60 years, Marjorie, raised their family in Oreland, PA before moving to Ocean City in 1998. Mr. Brown was a 1944 Oxford High School graduate. He earned his BS in Education from Millersville University and his Masters degree from Temple University. He was a proud World War II veteran, having served in the United States 3rd Army, 671st Field Artillery from 1944 until his Honorable Discharge in 1946. Harmon was an Industrial Arts teacher for 32 years at Springfield High School before retiring. In 1976, he and Marjorie opened Brown’s Restaurant and in 1998, Brown’s Nostalgia Bed and Breakfast. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie in 2011 and his two brothers. Surviving are his five children: Linda Brown of North Wales, PA; Katharine (Daniel) Newhard of Lititz, PA; James (Melissa) Brown of Palermo, NJ; David (Amy) Brown of Devon, PA; and Susan (James) Kelley of Denver, CO. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren: Brian, Laura, Emily, Mark, Hailey, Cynthia, James, Jr., Paige, Alex, Luke, Will, Sean, Brad, Kristin and two great grandchildren: Kate and Claire. A Memorial Service, with Military Honors, was held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 12 o’clock noon at First Presbyterian Church of Ocean City at 7th Street on Wesley Avenue, Ocean City, NJ.
