Harry Langer Obituary
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After Leaving the army he met and married Joyce Ann Grootveld and started a Family. Together they had four children, Randall, Deborah, Sandra, and Thomas.
Over his life he ran several successful businesses. Starting in the early 1950's he ran a concrete company, pouring garage pads, and by the 1960's worked his way up to pouring the concrete for midrise apartment buildings. One of his clients advised him 'There are no residuals in concrete.' He took this to heart and began his career in real estate. He primarily bought run-down buildings and renovated them. Eventually his company, H. A. Langer and Associates owned dozens of buildings with several thousand apartments on the north side of Chicago. His efforts improved the buildings themselves and also the neighborhoods he invested in.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Joyce A. Langer, as well as, 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
