Hazel Folks Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 31, 2025.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Hazel Patricia Folks, who left us on March 17, 2025, at the age of 100.

Born on September 1,1924, in Vesper, Wisconsin, she found herself on her own at the age of 15 after the death of her parents. She worked hard and eventually married and brought daughters Judy and Joy into the world. She later found herself a single mother and often worked multiple jobs in order to provide the best possible life for her children. She later moved to Tampa where she met her late husband, Herman Calvin Folks, who preceded her in death in 2005.

Hazel/Pat/Bummi lived a fulfilling life, enjoying traveling, hunting, fishing, boating, sewing, yard work, clowning, and so much more. She had a heart for community and was a long time member of Seminole Heights Methodist Church, as well as her beloved Order of the Eastern Star.

Hazel was a kind and generous soul, always putting others' needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her kindness and warm personality.

She is survived by daughter Joy McConnell-Hadley (Richard), grandsons Tom (Terrie), Robert (Cynthia), Richard, and Chace (Rachel), niece Kathryn Parker, and numerous great, and great-great, grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 5th, at Seminole Heights Methodist Church, with visitation at 2:00, service at 3:00, followed by a small reception at the church.

Rest in peace, our precious matriarch. You will forever be in our hearts and memories as we strive to continue your legacy.

We at Dorothy Cares Assisted Living Facilities in Riverview are saddened to have lost our resident Hazel. We were so honored to have provided our services, your last few years with us. You made us laugh so many times and told us many stories, you were definitely one of a kind. We know you are at peace and will always look after us. We want to thank her grandson Tom, his wife and the rest of the family, for trusting us with her care. She was loved and she will never be forgotten. Many prayers to the family, God bless.

I have never spend one day of my life without my Aunt Pat in it. She was here when I was born and I cannot imagine my life without her. She was my Mother's only sister and such a huge part of my life. I love this woman and always will. Her death cannot turn off the switch in me that controls my love for her.

I will forever miss and love you Ms. Pat. I will never forget what you told me in 2004 when I was pregnant with Cody. You said "You know why God is giving you a boy? He is giving you a boy so you'll always have someone to take care of you." You and Cal were so incredibly special to me. I am so thankful I got to see you one more time when I was down in Florida visiting in 2023. Give my grandma and TC a great big hug for me. This was our last picture together in 2023 but I have so many years of memories to cherish of you.

Ms Pat a very dear, caring and loving friend to me. She became like a 2nd Mother to me. We met at Seminole Heights Methodist Church when she worked in the kitchen cooking the Wednesday night dinners along side my soon to be husband T.J. Tompkins. She introduced me to get daughter Judy and we soon became best friends. Ms Pat had a huge heart plus a big smile and kind word for everyone. You will be deeply missed. Oh she was also a match maker. Rest in Peace my Friend
