So sorry I wasn't able to be with you on Saturday to celebrate the life of Jean, however, my thoughs and prayers were with you yesterday. She was such a stately lady and I shall carry that memory with me always. My thoughts to all of Jean's family from Joan (Thompson)Taylor

Living in Portland, Oregon, I haven’t seen Grandma in quite a while. However, I will always remember her fondly. Growing up, I looked forward to visiting the farm every summer. I loved staying in the front room that was so bright and cheery right next to Grandma’s room.
We’d bake, talk and she’d spend hours sewing smart outfits for my dolls and teddy bears. She told me all about my dad and what growing up on the farm was like. She had such great stories and loved talking about all my dad’s brothers and sisters.
I will miss watching Grandma as she cooked in the kitchen or tended to her huge garden right next to the house. She loved that garden and would be out there for hours. Most summers when I visited, we managed to get down the lake house, the original one right near the water. Grandma and I would share a bed while my dad bunked on the couch. I always thought that the lake house was like camping because there was no running water and I had to go to the washroom in the outhouse. I tell my friends today about some of these stories today and they just laugh. Yes, I guess I am a city girl, but there is definitely something to be said for some of the relaxing ways of the prairies.
I know I will always associate Grandma with the farm and fun summer visits while growing up. Visiting her there was truly like visiting another place in another time. I wish all children had that opportunity. I hope Grandma is in a better place, one with a huge garden that she can tend to. I will miss her.
