Helen Hartman Glaister passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at her home in Natrona Heights, surrounded by her loving family. Nearly 106 years old, Helen was born June 21, 1917, in Pittsburgh, to John Vincent Hartman and Margaret Shields. Helen was the youngest of nine children. Helen loved life; she had a wonderful sense of humor and always kept her family and friends laughing. She loved dancing, bowling, playing the slot machines, playing 500, visiting the ocean and other countries, and spending time with her family. Helen worked for many years as a secretary at Johnston Heating & Roofing Co., New Kensington, and volunteered in many capacities to help others including the CDA and Meals on Wheels. Helen married her husband, Thomas Glaister (deceased), on April 23, 1946. Helen and Thomas had four children, Thomas (Tricia), of Mequon, Wis., Peggy Kaczmarek (deceased) (Andrew) of Las Cruces, N.M., John (Beth), of Noblesville, Ind., and Claire Locke (Jim, deceased), of Tarentum. Helen is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Drew Kaczmarek (Alex), Debi Shupe (Dan), Brian Glaister (Chrissy), Michael Kaczmarek (Daniel), Mark Kaczmarek, Matthew Glaister, Thomas Locke and Gavin Glaister; and six great-grandchildren, Breck, Kaiden, and Jace Shupe, AJ and James Kaczmarek, and Linus Glaister. Helen is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she cherished. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be sent to St. Joseph High School, 800 Montana Ave., Natrona Heights, PA 15065, 724-226-7877. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688, where a parting prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Campus with her pastor, the Rev. John B. Lendvai, as celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. The Ladies of Charity will hold services at 1:45 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. To send an online condolence, please visit www.cicholski-zidekfh.com.

Mrs G.. a beautiful neighbor with a magnanimous heart. She shared her home and kitchen (with Budweiser) to support our college study group (Jack, John & I).

Helen's Family has my deepest sympathies. She was a very kind and thoughtful person .
She was called out sunshine lady, because she mailed cards to members of the C.D.of A when they were sick. And Christmas cards.

Thom, John and Claire
Your mom leaves such a legacy. I have such good memories of her through many decades starting with Sheldon Park. The last time I saw your mom was when my mom was at Tommy Zidek´s in August of 2015. Your mom and mine were friends for 50 years. Wish it could have been longer into their golden years. My mom had issues which unfortunately severed her friendship with your mom. That always saddened me. Your mom wrote me a letter after my mom died. Her words were so kind and genuine. I still have it. I was so amazed how well she wrote at her age, but then again she drove until her late 90´s and sure loved her slot machines. She would tell me about how she so enjoyed her "Vice" as she put it. I used to see her at Eat´n Park when I visited my mother. Your mom was a force of nature. She wasn´t ready to leave this earth until she touched as many hearts as humanly possible. She is with your dad and sister now. May she rest in peace.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
