Helen Meyers entered the presence of her Lord March 29, 2012. Helen was born June 13, 1934 in Calgary, Alberta to Ferdinand and Pauline Unger. She grew up as an only child, which may explain why she spent the rest of her life making countless numbers of friends. She grew up on a farm east of Olds, Alberta until she set out to work in the City of Calgary. She lived with her friend Madeline in Calgary and the two of them found themselves having way too much fun together. Helen's spiritual journey began at East Olds Baptist Church, where she committed her life to following Jesus Christ, and was baptized. Helen also met Jim Meyers while they both attended East Olds Baptist Church. They got to know one another over the years and were married May 18, 1963. Jim and Helen moved to Calgary after they were married and have resided in Calgary ever since. The summer of 1964 began their lifelong parenting responsibilities when Doug was born. Two years later Dave was added to the family and the two boys brought no end of life to the household (if they do say so themselves). Helen's life was made even fuller years later with the addition of her daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. While Helen and Jim moved several times in the north end of Calgary, they have only attended one church, Grace Baptist. They have made many wonderful friends during their married life, most of which were people who they worshipped with and were in community with in a small group at Grace. Helen loved serving alongside other people. She was involved in Grace's women's ministry, The Mustard Seed, Christian Women's, White cross, which included serving pies at Southern Gospel concerts to raise money for White cross. Helen loved being with people and hospitality was a gift she was given by God and she used to the full. Helen was predeceased by her parents and infant sister. She is survived by her beloved husband Jim, her son Doug and Roxy Meyers, son Dave Meyers, and grandchildren Brad and Bethany Meyers. Funeral Services will be held at Grace Baptist Church (2670 Radcliffe Drive S.E.) on April 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Grace Baptist Debt Reduction Fund (cheques payable to Grace Baptist Church) or The Mustard Seed.
