HELEN WOODCOCK Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 7, 2017.
HELEN MARY WOODCOCK Helen Mary Woodcock, 88, died September 1st, 2017 in Kennewick. Helen's family is grateful for the nine months of care provided by Careing Hands Adult Family Home and Chaplaincy Hospice Care. Thank you to those who visited and sent cards this past year. Helen was born October 11th, 1928 in Wolf-point, Montana to Edward T. Hanson and Anna M. (Heinrichs) Hanson. She was the oldest of seven siblings and grew up on a wheat and cattle farm. On May 29th, 1948 she married Daniel R. Woodcock after his service in the Navy in WWII. They moved to the Seattle area where she graduated from West Seattle High School. Later Daniel acquired a permanent job at the Hanford facilities and they moved to Richland. Son Leslie was born in 1950 and daughter Faye in 1953. She raised Leslie and Faye in the Christian faith. They traded their Kennewick home for 206 acres of rock west of Benton City to grow hay and pasture and to raise and sell calves. While in Benton City, Helen had found time to take oil painting. After five years on the rock ranch, they moved back to Richland. Helen started making cloth and porcelain dolls and sewed beautiful doll clothes. She was a faithful member of the Heritage Doll Club. Helen also worked part time as a school cook's assistant. Dan and Helen were able to take vacations to Hawaii, Alaska, the New England states, New Zealand and Australia. After the move back to Richland, they also had time to go fishing again - always a favorite pastime for both of them. Lately she was attending Columbia Bible Church. Her husband Dan had said, "She's a good ol' gal." But she was more: tough, talented, caring, and helpful. She will be missed. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother and sister-in-law Sibley and Shirley Hanson, and son-in-law Gary Siegfried. Surviving Helen are four brothers: Vern (Julie) Hanson, Dorence Hanson, Harvey (Judy) Hanson, Arnold (Connie Ingram) Hanson; one sister, Goldie Neudecker; son Leslie Woodcock and his son Teddy (Diana) Woodcock, and Leslie's daughter Tennille (Rob) Niemi and their children Tylie and Rex; and daughter Faye Siegfried and her son Jacob (Kelsie) Siegfried and Faye's daughter April (Joel) Gardner and their children Cam and Lydia. A public viewing will be held Friday, September 8th from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Columbia Memorial Funeral Chapel and Gardens on 24th Ave in Pasco with funeral services beginning at 11 am. Interment service to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be sent to the Child Evangelism Fellowship at 713 Jadwin Ave. Rm. #7 Richland, WA 99352 or www.CEFTricities.com.

September 21, 2017

I grew up in Kennewick in the 60's and our family was good friends with the Woodcock family. My Brother Page Pulliam and Les went to school together. I remember playing with Faye when we went to their house. Dan and my Dad Larry Pulliam both worked at Hanford. Helen and my Mom Penny Pulliam enjoyed visiting and baking together. My Sister Lisa Pulliam and I always loved going to their farm in Benton City and finding the chickens hiding in the hay bales. Helen will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
