Henry Napier

Henry Edgel Napier, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, slipped away peacefully after many years of disease and pain. He was 72.
Born to a coal mining family in Monaville, West Virginia, Hank attended Marshall University before joining the U.S. Army in 1964. He served during the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged in 1970.
He converted to the LDS Church and moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah where he met his best friend, Kathy Sorensen, at a dance in 1974. Despite his corny jokes and hillbilly tendencies, they married Jan. 17, 1975, in the Ogden LDS Temple. Hank worked for years as a computer engineer and small business owner, but his passions were Scouting, genealogy and his grandkids. He remained a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints until the end and cherished the fellowship of the Deerfield Ward.
Hank is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Kathy; son, Christian Napier (Lynn); daughters, Jennifer Napier-Pearce (John Pearce), Maren Begnaud (Christopher Begnaud), Amanda Napier (Rolando Victoria), Cat Napier (Carlos Torres) and Laura Napier; 13 grandchildren; sisters Frances Muncey, Yvonne Perrine and Annette Napier, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mosey Dillard Napier and Opal Marie Gollihue.
A graveside memorial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 13 at the Lake Point City Cemetery, 7830 Mountain View Road, Lake Point.
The family thanks the many doctors and staff at the V.A. Hospital, Intermountain Heart Institute and Avalon Care Center for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Operation Homefront, operationhomefront.org, or another worthy charity benefiting America's veterans.
