Heriberto Rivera Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 28, 2025.
Heriberto "Herb" Rivera, 76, passed away on July 20, 2025, in New York City, the place he proudly called home throughout his life.

Born on July 23, 1948, in the United States, Herb lived a life defined by unwavering dedication to his family and service to his country. He answered the call of duty and served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His military service was marked by courage and commitment, and he was honorably discharged after fulfilling his duties with distinction.

Following his time in the Army, Herb graduated from City University with a degree in education. He built a career in construction-a demanding profession that often required long hours and personal sacrifice. Herb will be remembered for his selfless devotion to his wife, Lillian, and their two sons, Eric and Chris. He was a man who carried the weight of the world so that those he loved could walk lighter. Though work sometimes kept him from family vacations, Herb never failed to be present when it mattered most. His steadfast presence was a source of strength for his family.

Eric and Chris will forever look up to him as their hero-a man whose quiet strength and enduring love shaped their lives in profound ways.

Though he has left this world, Herb Rivera's legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the countless lives he touched. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held on July 31, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM at Trinity Cemetery Chapel 153rd street and Broadway. Parking is available. Please join us for repast commemorative lunch at Chick Inn 3508 Broadway in Manhattan.

Instead of flowers, please donate in Herb's memory to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research at https://give.michaeljfox.org/give/421686/#!/donation/checkout

Dear Lillian, Eric, and Chris. We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband and father. We always thought of Herb as a gentle and sweet man, and, as your moving obituary said, it was evident to both of us, that he cared for and loved his family very deeply. Our deepest condolences. With love and prayers, Nick and Tricia Licari
