He was born in Llares, Puerto Rico, March 9, 1945, son of the late Jose and Ramona (Mendes) Pena, and was educated there. He had resided in Chicago, prior to moving to Lowell in 1979.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Edgardo Pena of Lawrence, and Oscar Pena of Lowell; two grandsons, Isaiah Pena, and Gabriel Pena; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of Jose Pena, who died in 2004.

Quisiera expresar mis sentimientos a la familia del senor pena, no lo conoci personalmente, pero si lo veia guiar su bicicleta y compartir tiempo con su familia en el building donde vivia mi mama en la gorham street, era una gran persona y tenia una gran personalidad.
