Ian - my friend, my brother. It is with great saddness that we said goodbye to you. You had touched all of us, with your talents, your wit, your sincereity and your humour. I am honoured to have been your school-mate, your team-mate and most of all your friend. You will be missed, but never forgotten. May you find peace Habibi.

Ian had a larger-than-life personality and a way of simplifying any problem or obstacle, making the solution quite clear. Ian was a good friend with the biggest heart. I learned much from Ian and I am a better person for having known him.

We met Ian several times at family functions. We always thought that he was a gentle giant with a great sense of humour, and fun loving. He was obviously very family oriented and a talented and accomplished artist. We didn't see him very often but we will miss him.

Ian - a friend and gifted colleague...a gentle giant. The lilt of his laughter, the concern for 'his' kids and the depth of his heart will remain with us. May God's peace comfort grieving, searching hearts.

If we're lucky, there are those in our lifetime who leave a perfect mark like a thumb print on our heart. Ian was like for many people and for me. I knew Ian in highschool and although we last spoke ten years ago I'll never forget and will always be grateful for his friendship. I'll miss you Ian.

My heartfelt condolences to Mrs. McDougall, Doris, Ewanna and the extended family. Although I don't remember Ian, I do have fond memories of the three of you. I think Mrs. McDougall was my first customer back when I sold Studio Girl cosmetics when I was something like 14 years old!!! (Suzie Shutler of Greenhaven)
Kindest regards,

Ian always made me want to be better than what I thought I could be and was never surprised when I was. He seemed to inspire that in a lot of people. My life was better for having known him.

As many teachers who have had the privilege of working alongside Ian note, we have lost a tremendously talented, and committed individual. Years have passed, but we at Bellwood P.S. remember Ian's enthusiasm, his warmth, and the sincere and easy rapport he had with both students and staff.

What a shock! What a loss.I had the pleasure of working with Ian at Grove School here in Oshawa. Ian always had a smile on his face, and could make light of any problem. His infectious smile and laughter will be sadly missed.

I was saddened to hear the news of Ian's passing. I worked with him at Queen E in Oshawa. There was a group of us who had so many fun times together. It made going to work easy. He always brought a smile to my face and many times gave me words of wisdom. He will always be remembered. My thoughts go out to all of his family and friends.

I'm so sorry to hear about Ian's passing. I will always remember his smile and his kindness. I really enjoyed working with Ian in Durham. He was obviously committed to the hard-to-serve students he worked with and his artistic skills were a gift he shared with those students.
My sincere regrets

I am shocked and saddened by the news of Ian's death. I worked with Ian at Glen St. Public School in Oshawa. A gang of us would play badminton, play cards, and go on some fun field trips. His spontaneity and smile will be fondly remembered.

What a huge loss to all who had the opportunity to meet this wonderful human being. In life we are touched by many; only a few leave an indelible mark. Ian is one of those few! His kindness and compassion will be remembered forever in the hearts and minds of his many friends, colleagues and students.
You'll be missed my friend,
Steve

I am saddened greatly at Ian's passing. Ian and I shared a room, many challenges and many laughs as students in the Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor. As league convenor, Ian resurfaced in my life recently as a driving force behind football at General Vanier School. This gift will benefit many young people for years to come. Good bye old friend.

I taught with Ian at Queen Elizabeth P.S. in Oshawa. I was the art teacher there and had a close relationship with Ian. His art work was intense... and he was incredibly gifted. I had the good fortune of spending quality time with Ian, often discussing life issues, working out, educational ideas and art.He was very proud of his brother Brent who lived in T.O. I got to meet him and his partner at their studio. I am shocked to hear of this news. I have always felt close to Ian but this loss is great... we've truly lost a talent in the art world and an awesome person. I will miss him but he will always have a special place in my heart.
