Ines Cantu Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 31, 2010.
Ines Guajardo Cantu, of Lake Jackson, was born Wednesday, February 13, 1929 in Mexico to Ines Cantu and Juanita Guajardo and died at home, surrounded by his family, Thursday December 30, 2010.
Mr. Cantu worked for the city of Lake Jackson for 20 years. During his time with the city, he met and made many lifelong friends and became well known throughout the city. He enjoyed his job and liked joking and clowning with all his fellow employees. After retiring from the City of Lake Jackson, he was hired at Wal-Mart, where he worked for 22 years, until he was 82 years old. While at Wal-Mart he also met many new friends and was well liked by all. He was known as a very hard worker and a very caring and friendly man. He never lost his sense of humor and would always make people smile. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Cantu was a loyal family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren with passion and conviction. He was always more about others than he was about himself. He was "selfless" and "sacrificial" looking out for the best interest of his family until the very end. He was consistent and had amazing work ethic. Most of all he loved his family, all of them, and worked his entire life to provide for all. We shall meet again in heaven.
Mr. Cantu is survived by his wife of 57 wonderful years, Otila Trevino Cantu; sons, Juan Ines Cantu and his wife Phyllis and their children, Estevan & Veronica, Gustavo Cantu and his wife Nora and their children, Megan, Justin & James, Sergio Noe Cantu and his wife Herlinda and their daughter, Elizabeth, Arturo and his wife Laurie and their children, Glory, Grayson and Gabriel; sisters, Poncha Garcia, Seveda Cantu, Augrodia Segovia, Santos Cantu and Josefina Segovia and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of the very good friends for their support during this time.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 2, 2011, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Restwood Funeral Home. Rosary Recitation will be held at 6:00 pm Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 3, 2011 at St. Jerome Catholic Church with burial following at Restwood Memorial Park with Juan, Gustavo, Sergio, Arturo, Estevan, Justin and James Cantu serving as pallbearers.

To my aunt and my cousins: I wish I could be there to share in your grief. I'm so sorry that I can't. My uncle was always so full of life and he made me laugh so much even in difficult times. The last time I saw him was two years ago when my step-father passed away. He still spoiled me just as if I were that same little girl living in Angleton, Texas. I loved him very much because he always treated me so well and made me feel so special. I am so sorry for you loss and I share in your loss. I love you all even though I don't get to see you very often. Take care of my aunt. Love,

Our deepest sympathies from our family to yours. Ines was always a caring uncle and I will always remember his humor and wit. May God rest his soul and I am sure he is now sitting under a tree in heaven talking with my dad. May God comfort the Cantu family during these trying times.
