KILGORE - Graveside services for Wilma Inez Welch, 88, of Kilgore, will be 10 a.m., Saturday, February 6, 2010, in Kilgore Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Vidacovich officiating. Mrs. Welch died Wednesday, February 3, 2010, in Longview. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore.
Wilma Inez Bewley was born on December 11, 1921, in Whitesboro, Texas to the late Monroe T. and Julia Cross Bewley. She was a graduate of Whitesboro High School where she was a stand-out basketball player and major contributor to the 1939 Ladies Basketball District Championship. Inez worked for twenty five years at Chandler Elementary in food service. Mrs. Welch enjoyed cooking for family and friends, and was an accomplished seamstress. She was a member of the Chandler Street Church of Christ in Kilgore where she enjoyed attending the Ladies Bible Class.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Chute and husband Kenneth of Longview; three sons, Richard Welch and wife Gladys of Kilgore, Joe Welch and wife Peggy of Kilgore, and Roger Welch and wife Janet of Kilgore. Mrs. Welch was blessed with nine grandchildren, Kenneth Welch and wife Michelle of Troup, Melissa Hunt and husband Derrick of South Lake, Brandon Welch of Kilgore, Amanda Schulz and husband Mike of Dallas, Blake Welch of Kilgore, Kevin Chute and wife Rebecca of Dallas, Katie Medders of Longview, Bill Welch of Kilgore and Mason Welch of Austin. Other survivors include five great-grandchildren and two brothers, Jack Bewley of Kilgore, and Sam Bewley of Kilgore.
Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by her husband of thirty five years, W.H. Welch; two brothers, M.T. Bewley and Harold Bewley; and sister, Billie Krenek.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., today, February 5, 2010, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Life Care Hospice, 1809 Gilmer Rd., Longview, Texas 75604 or the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the Buckner Westminster Holly House and the LifeCare Hospice staff for their professionalism and caring attention provided in such a difficult time.
