HARPER, Mr. Ira L. age 83, of Dayton, departed this life unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. He was born on August 3, 1928. Mr. Ira L. Harper served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He operated The Oakridge Car Wash for many years and was retired from St. John Transportation Company. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Rayfield and Mrs. Dessie Harper and a brother, Mr. Archie Lee Harper. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife of 40 yrs., Mrs. Pearl Makupson-Harper; a very loving and devoted daughter, Ms. Mitchelle Branch; a very devoted grandson, Quentin Pullins; (2) daughters, Claudia Harper and Lawana Harper, both of Dayton, OH; (5) sons, Kenny Makupson of Dayton, OH, Ira Joe Harper of Virginia and Eddie (Cynthia) Harper of Dayton, OH, Al Harper and Timothy (Stephanie) Harper of Cincinnati, OH; (2) brothers, R. D. (Retha) Harper and Rayfield (Doris) Harper Jr., both of Denver, CO; (3) sisters, Claudine Taylor (Walter) Harper of Aurora, CO, Gloretha Harper of Dayton, OH and Lucille O'Bannon (Ted) of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law, Margaret Harper of Atlanta, TX; (1) uncle, Leo Harper of Los Angeles, CA; (11) grandchildren; (9) great, grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services 1:00 P.M., MONDAY, April 2, 2012 at THOMAS FUNERAL HOME, 4520 Salem Ave., with Elder Larry Ragans and Bishop Emma Curtis-White, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment: Dayton National Cemetery. On line condolences may also be sent to the family at www.thomasfunerals.com
