Irene Church Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 19, 2009.
CATAUMET — Irene Adel (Taylor) Church, 66, was ushered through heaven's gates on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, in Cataumet.

She passed peacefully with her grandchildren, Troy and Alyssa Labrie, each holding her hands, along with her husband and children surrounding her until her moment of glory.

Irene grew up in Norwood and attended Northeastern University. Her most cherished moments were the years she spent on George Street in Barnstable.

She met the love of her life, James W Church, and married in 1965. Irene was blessed with three children; a daughter, Lynn E. Labrie, of Cataumet; and two sons, James W. Church Jr. of North Andover and Paul E. Church of North Dighton. Over the years, all three children got married and had children. Irene was filled with pride to be a part of their growing families. Despite retiring to Georgia five years ago, distance could not keep her apart from her one true passion, her grandchildren, Troy, Alyssa, Madison and Nick. Her loving touch, caring spirit and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed.

NANA I LOVE YOU! Nana I love you! That you already know. I hate to see you like this, But I'm afraid to let you go. Nana I love you! Your parents are waiting, And the Nana I've always known, well, her personality is fading. Nana I love you! And I know what's going on. The cancer is taking over, And now it won't be long. Nana I love you! Don't ever leave me. But you need to rest in peace, So it's time to set you free. Written by her granddaughter, Alyssa.

A memorial service will be held in Cataumet at a later date. Donations may be made in Irene's name to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
