Irma Louise Eaves passed away on Saturday February 18th in the peaceful surroundings of her home with her loving family at her side. She was 98 years of age. Born and raised in Chelsea she was one of four children of the late Daniel H. and Maude A. (Thomas) Cunningham.
She was married for 57 years to Thomas F. Eaves, Sr. and raised four children of her own.
Irma worked as an operator for New England Telephone in Chelsea. She was a proud homemaker and after her own children were grown, she worked as a Lunch Mother at the Williams School in Chelsea.
Irma was a devoted wife and mother and loved her family more than anything. She was a busy woman who always had Hydrox Cookies and gingerbread at the ready when her children returned from school, and the continuous flow of their many friends.
She was so proud of all of her children and grandchildren and never missed an event.
In true Boston form, she was a big fan of the Red Sox and New England Patriots. She was such a loyal fan that she had to follow Tom Brady after he left the Patriots, and so added Tampa Bay as a weekly need to watch a game. If, however, they were playing New England, she would shut the television off and waited for the results on the news.
She was a beacon of love, kindness, and generosity. Ever the optimist, she kept everyone entertained with her colorful stories and adventures. She loved to laugh and shared her “Irma-isms” so frequently that her children recite them still.
In addition to her parents, Irma was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas F. Eaves, Sr. and was the devoted mother and mother-in law of Donna Eaves-Finnie of Revere and her late husband Russell, Thomas Eaves and his wife Susie of Round Rock, TX, Paul Eaves and his wife Joanne of Saugus, and Dr. William Eaves and his wife Chris of Revere. Cherished grandmother of Christopher and Valerie Finnie, Michelle and Keith McKenzie, Samantha Eaves, Paul Eaves II and Nicole Eaves, Ashley Eaves, Christian Eaves, and Jillian Eaves, she was also the adoring great-grandmother of ten, and was the dear sister and sister-in-law of the late Maude and John McKenna, Henry and Helen Cunningham, Edward and Rosalie Cunningham and Robert and Louise Eaves.
Her funeral services were private.
