BROGAN - J. (John) Peter, 72 years old, of Wyckoff and Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Ho-Ho-Kus and Ridgewood. Entered into eternal rest at home on Saturday, June 22nd. Born in Ridgewood, he was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's Church and Mt. Carmel Church. He graduated from Ridgewood High School and attended Seton Hall and Georgetown Universities and was a graduate of General Motors Institute. He served as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was President of Brogan Cadillac of Ridgewood for 50 years before retiring to his position of Chairman of the Board in 2001. He was a member of the Ridgewood Planning Board and served as Chairman. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Trust Company of New Jersey. He was a member of the Ridgewood Country Club, The Saddle River Power Squadron, and the Cadillac La Salle Club. He served on the Cadillac National and Regional Dealer Council's and was a Cadillac Master Dealer, General Motors highest award honoring its dealers for 15 years. Beloved husband of 50 years to Claire (nee Bessler). Loving father and father-in-law of Mary Claire and Ned Cancelmo of Ridgewood, Kathleen and Michael Gillen of Hampton, NH, Margaret and Bruce Mowery of Bolton Landing, NY, Carolyn and John Conte of East Dorset, VT, and Judith and Randall Titus of Springboro, OH. Loving stepson to Mildred S. Brogan. Adored grandfather of Peter and Amy Cancelmo, Claire Gillen, Bruce and Justin Mowery, Faye, Jake, and Christopher Conte, Lauren and Carly Titus. Dear brother of Patricia B. Ely. The family will receive their relatives and friends today, from 4-8 PM at Feeney Funeral, 232 Franklin Ave., Ridgewood. The family will gather with their relatives and friends Wednesday, 10:45 AM for a Funeral Mass at Mt. Carmel Church. In lieu of flowers, the family strongly requests memorial contributions be made to the Hospice Program at Hackensack University Medical Center, 30 Prospect Ave, Hackensack, NJ 07601 in memory of J. Peter Brogan.
