A SERVICE at Shirebrook's Holy Trinity church preceded cremation at Mansfield of Mr John Derek Griffiths (78), of Langwith Road, Langwith Junction. Born and educated at Shirebrook, Mr Griffiths had been a life-long resident of the area. He had been the licensee of The Station Hotel, Shirebrook, and retired 26 years ago. His interests included holidays to Malta and Thailand, deep sea fishing and gardening. Mr Griffiths, who died at his home, was pre-deceased by his wife, Mrs Pauline Griffiths and leaves three sons Glen, Grant and John and five grandchildren - Ryan, Zoe, Jason, Brett and Cally. Donations in lieu of floral tributes, which raised £400, were divided between Marie Curie Cancer Care and Macmillan Nurses.The service was conducted by the Rev J. Draycott, and arrangements were by Stubbins & Hope.
